Why Heater Winterization Matters More Than You Think

When to open.

The right opening date depends on three things: how warm the water needs to be by your first weekend, what condition the pool was in at close, and what your service relationship looks like. Most of our clients open the first week of May. A few wait until Memorial Day weekend. A small number, the year-round households, never close at all.

If you're heating, opening early pays off twice: the water has time to balance before guests arrive, and your equipment runs through its first cycles while the team is still on-site to catch anything that hasn't survived the winter.

The closing sets up the opening.

A good close means a fast open. We winterize heaters, blow out lines, balance the chemistry one last time, and walk the entire property looking for anything that's about to fail. That walk is the most valuable hour of the year. It's the difference between an opening that takes a morning and one that takes a week.

The work that doesn't get done in October becomes the work that ruins May.

Sign up for a full-season plan, including the close. Inconsistent service across the same pool from year to year is what creates the slow-burn problems we see at year three and four. The relationship is what compounds into a pool that ages well: the same technicians, the same notes, the same equipment in the same place every visit.
