The Role
Position overview.
As a Service Technician, you are responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of high-quality gunite swimming pools. You ensure that the pools you look after operate efficiently and meet the standards of cleanliness, safety, and appearance that the Tortorella name carries. You'll work with a variety of pool equipment, chemicals, and tools, and you'll spend your days out on Hamptons properties, one client at a time.
Routine Maintenance
- Perform regular inspections of gunite pools to identify issues and areas needing attention.
- Clean and maintain pool surfaces, tile, grout, and surrounding areas.
- Vacuum, skim, and brush pool surfaces to keep water clarity to standard.
- Test and adjust water chemistry, including pH, chlorine, and other chemicals.
- Backwash and clean pool filters as needed.
- Monitor and maintain water circulation and filtration systems.
Equipment Maintenance
- Troubleshoot pool equipment: pumps, motors, heaters, and automatic pool cleaners.
- Perform preventive maintenance on pool equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Document required repairs in Zuper so they are scheduled and tracked.
- Ensure all equipment on your route is running as it should be.
Water Quality
- Monitor and maintain water chemistry within specified parameters.
- Adjust chemicals and filtration settings to keep water quality and safety on standard.
- Address algae growth, scaling, and other water-quality issues before they escalate.
- Maintain and troubleshoot automated chemical dosing systems.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow safety protocols and both industry and Tortorella guidelines for pool maintenance and repair.
- Ensure compliance with local and state regulations for pool water quality and safety.
- Educate clients on pool safety practices as questions come up.
- Work closely with the Training Department to stay current.
Client Care
- Communicate clearly with clients about maintenance schedules, issues, and recommendations.
- Represent Tortorella on their property with a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Address client concerns or inquiries promptly and honestly.
Records & Work Orders
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activity in all necessary platforms, including Zuper.
- Document water chemistry readings, tasks performed, and repairs made.
- Document every visit with photos.
- Complete work orders in full by end of job.
Troubleshooting
- Identify and diagnose pool and equipment issues accurately.
- Develop effective solutions to address more complex problems.
- Consult with Service Field Leads or the Training Department when needed.
Vehicle Safety & Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections of your company vehicle to ensure it is in safe working condition.
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and other required tasks.
- Document vehicle maintenance and safety inspections for compliance.
